Who Has The Biggest Army In The World?

When it comes to military might, the size of a country’s army is sometimes seen as an important indication. While many elements contribute to a country’s military might, having a strong, well-trained army is undeniably advantageous. This article will highlight the countries with the largest armies. 

China

China is now the country with the world’s largest army. According to estimates, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has over 2 million active members, making it the world’s largest army. The PLA is also backed up by a sizable reserve force, believed to be over 500,000 strong.

India

India boasts one of the world’s largest militaries, with a total military force of around 4.7 million troops. Over 1.4 million active soldiers are the world’s second-largest army behind China. Reserve and paramilitary troops make up the remainder of the army.

Russia

Russia has a big and formidable military, including around 3.5 million military personnel. Over 900,000 of them are active-duty military members.

The United States Of America

With a total military force of over 2.8 million soldiers, the United States boasts one of the world’s largest and most formidable armed forces. Almost 1.3 million of these are active-duty military members making it the third-largest army in the world by count.

North Korea

North Korea is also noted for its massive army, estimated to number between 1.2 million and 1.6 million active members.

While having a strong army is a benefit, it is equally crucial to emphasize that a country’s military quality is important. Training, equipment, and doctrine may all impact a military’s performance.
